Below is our example of the Adventure of the Water Horse vacation for you and your family. Please Note, due to the variable weather conditions in Scotland the itinerary may be adjusted to suit. Below is an example of a 7-day tour. Family Tours Itinerary (May - Sep)Day 1.Your Family Adventure starts when the tour guide/driver collects you at either Edinburgh or Glasgow international Airport. Our journey begins with a drive along the Bonnie, Bonnie banks of Loch Lomond where we will stop at the loch Lomond Visitor Centre where you will have the opportunity to visit the Sealife Centre to brush up on you animal spotting skills for your journey to come. From here we will visit one of the places where the magic of the film "The Water Horse" was created. Ardkinglas House where you will have your tour of this glorious house built in 1907. We then head on to your Hotel in time for dinner. Day 2.After a full Scottish breakfast, we head on an exciting tour of the Isle of Mull. Duart Castle is a must see as it the Castle featured in the Water Horse movie backdrop and is a beautiful example of Scotland's many Castles. We will arrive at the visitor centre to collect our treasure map and proceed around the Island gathering clues. Weather and time permitting we will also be able to visit Tobermory where the famous children program "Balamory" is filmed. We then proceed to our Hotel in time for Dinner. Day 3.After a wholesome Scottish Breakfast, we head North to the Isle of Skye. We will be venturing via Ferry from Fishnish to Lochaline and up the west coast to Mallaig where we will take the Ferry on to Skye. We will visit Armadale Castle and Gardens and Broadford where Bonnie Prince Charlie left his secret recipe for what is now called Drambuie. Time permitting we will also visit Elgol a fishing hamlet below the picturesque Cullen Mountains before making our way to our Highland hotel in time for Dinner. Day 4.After a full Breakfast we head for the Island capital Portree before completing our full tour of the Isle of Skye, visiting places of interest and spectacular scenery along the way. Day 5.After a hearty Scottish Breakfast, we continue our Nessie tour heading for Inverness, stopping at Eilean Donan Castle which is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland and seen in the film The Highlander. We will make our way to Fort Augustus giving us the chance to view Loch Ness and (maybe the monster) for the first time. We will also see the Caledonian Canal during our stop and Fort Augustus. We will then travel up the West side of Loch Ness passing Invermoriston and Drumnadrochit (where the original Loch Ness visitor centre is claimed to be). For those adventurous hunters amongst us, you can even take a trip on the Nessie Hunter boat cruise. Keeping our "eyes peeled" for any sighting of Nessie the Water Horse. From here we will head to Inverness to our Hotel for a well earned rest. Day 6.After a full Scottish breakfast we visit the famous city of Inverness. We can also visit the Loch ness Exhibition center for all your Nessie needs or maybe just tour the stunning hill top scenery. For the serious Nessie spotters there are numerous boat trips to choose from along the most studied banks of loch ness. After Lunch, we head South via Aviemore and Kingussie, weather and time permitting we can stop at the foot of the Cairngorms before heading for Dunkeld and our Hotel for Dinner. Day 7.After a full Scottish breakfast, we will have a relaxing day, visiting most of the local attractions in this area i.e. Dunkeld once the religious capital of Scotland and also Edradour the smallest distillery in Scotland. We then head via Perth on our way to Stirling where we will visit Stirling Castle before heading on to our final night's hotel for Dinner. Day 8.After a hearty Scottish Breakfast you will make your way to the airport for your flight home. |
