Loch Lomond, Oban & the Argyll Forest Park

09.15 and returns at 18.15. Please arrive 15 mins before departure time.

Price: Please enquire. Max 8 people.

Your tour today begins when your tour driver collects you from Glasgow and heads deep into the ancient Argyll Forest Park via the "bonnie, bonnie banks" of Loch lomond. This is Britain's largest freshwater loch and is also, in the opinion of many, it's most beautiful. There is no better introduction to the breathtaking landscape of Highland Scotland. The Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park contains some of the finest scenery in Scotland and we will view the contrasting rolling lowland landscapes in the south to high mountains in the north. Stopping in the village of Luss we take time to admire the view and take in the atmosphere of the village before heading north into the Highlands and onto the sea-side town of Oban, know as the "Gateway to the Isles". We will stop here for lunch and take in the sights of this charming fishing town.

After lunch we travel into the rugged Argyll Forest Park via Loch Awe, pausing for a picture stop at Kilchurn Castle. With rugged mountains, glens, great forests, moorland, lochs and rivers, many visitors claim that this forest park is the finest of them all. Argyll Forest Park is on the very edge of the Highland Boundary Fault, the great geological barrier that marks the line between the landscape of Lowland and Highland Scotland. Now we travel into Clan Campbell territory. The Campbells arrived in Argyll as part of a royal expedition in 1220 and here we can visit the home of The Duke & Duchess of Argyll, Inveraray Castle (April to October), take a walk in the white-washed 18th century town, or relax on the shores of Loch Fyne.

Our return journey takes us over the Rest and Be Thankful mountain pass and on to the City of Glasgow via Loch Lomond.

A perfect holiday thanks to the expertise and flexibility of our driver/guide John who took us to the unknown nooks and niches of this wonderful country and gave us the bonus of his knowledge about history and landscapes. Every day was a discovery of new fantastic vistas, meeting friendly people and enjoying delicious meals. Thanks BST, we will surely be back. ”
