Day 1 we head to the Scottish borders to visit Scotland’s oldest inhabited house, Traquair, before enjoying a relaxing wander around Melrose Abbey. Later we take in the exquisite panorama at “Scott’s View” overlooking the valley of the River Tweed. Overnight Edinburgh.
Day 2 begins with a leisurely visit to Rosslyn Chapel, made famous by Dan Brown's book The Da Vinci Code, before we head to Stirling to spend the afternoon visiting Stirling Castle to take in the castle's long and turbulent history. Overnight Stirling
Day 3 we head for the mountains, glens and lochs of the Trossachs National Park. We visit the village of Luss on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond and later we head into the Argyll Forest Park to explore this rugged landscape. Overnight Argyll
Day 4 is a leisurely visit to the loch-side village of Inveraray with its famous Castle, home of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll. We travel to Oban, ‘Gateway to the Isles’, via Kilmartin Glen, often referred to as the birthplace of Scotland. We then travel by ferry trip to the Isle of Mull. Overnight Mull
Day 5 we tour the north of the Isle of Mull with its stunning mountain scenery, seascapes and abundant wildlife. We visit the town of Tobermory with its wonderful frontage of painted houses and interesting shops, walk the white sand beach at Calgary Bay. Overnight Mull
Day 6 we travel south to take the ferry to enchanting Staffa (landing if weather allows), where the motion of the waves crash into Fingal's Cave formed from giant basalt columns. Later we visit Iona Abbey, founded by St. Columba who arrived here in AD 563. Overnight Mull
Day 7 begins with a visit to Duart Castle, home of one of Scotland’s oldest Clans.Later we travel back to the mainland to travel through scenic Lochaber to view the iconic Glencoe landscape and learn of the massacre of 1692. Overnight nr. Glencoe
Day 8 steps aboard the Jacobite steam train, now famous as the Harry Potter Hogwarts Express. The train journey provides wonderful views across the Sound of Arisaig to the Small Isles of Eigg and Rhum. After lunch in the  port of Mallaig we take the ferry “Over the Sea to Skye”. Overnight nr Skye
Day 9 is a tour of the Isle of Skye, passing through Broadford and on to the Island capital, Portree, with its colourful harbour front. Heading north we take in the fabulous scenery and seascapes from Kilt Rock Falls, with Dunvegan Castle and other options a possibility. Overnight nr Skye
Day 10 begins with a visit to Eilean Donan Castle before taking a trip over the “Bealach Na Ba” to Applecross; a beautiful and tranquil place in rugged Wester Ross with stunning scenery. The area is well known for its spectacular mountain scenery, especially the Torridon Hills. Overnight nr Inverness
Day 11 we venture through Inverness to visit Culloden Battlefield before heading south to explore the Cairngorms National Park, with towering mountain ranges and large tracts of the original Caledonian Pine Forest. We also take in the villages of Carrbridge and Pitlochry. Overnight Pitlochry
Day 12 starts with a visit to wonderful Falkland Palace; once a favourite place of Mary Queen of Scots, before heading to explore St Andrews; the home of golf and also the home of Prince William while he attended the University here - one of the oldest in the world. Overnight Fife
Day 13 we view the famous Forth Bridge and on to Edinburgh for a visit of spectacular Edinburgh Castle, before enjoying some time out in the Royal Mile, with its charming medieval architecture and the opportunity to do some last minute speciality shopping.
