Day 1 is a fabulous introduction to the Scottish landscape, exploring the mountains, glens and lochs of Scotland’s first National Park and the beautiful lochside village of Inveraray with its famous castle. The journey north takes us through the stunning scenery of Glencoe. Overnight Glencoe.
Day 2 is an exploration of the heritage and historic monuments of Scotland, travelling to the Isle of Skye via Loch Ness. On the way, we stop at the charming highland village of Fort Augustus before heading for a visit to iconic 13th century Eilean Donan Castle and onwards to Skye. Overnight Skye area.
Day 3 is a tour of the Isle of Skye, passing through Broadford and on to the main settlement on the Island; Portree. Heading north we take in changing landscape of the Trotternish peninsula with the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock Falls and the spectacularly bizarre scenery of the Quiraing. Overnight Skye area.
Day 4 we tour to Inverness via Achnasheen with its 10,000 year old ice age terraces scaring the landscape. We head for Rogie Falls on the Black Water for a gentle wander to see the waterfall that is famous for salmon viewing. Later, enjoy some free time in the Highland Capital. Overnight Inverness.
Day 5 visits Culloden Battlefield providing a lasting image of Bonnie Prince Charlie and his Jacobites. Later we explore the Cairngorms National Park with towering mountain ranges and Caledonian Pine Forest. Heading south we tour the highest distillery and sample the `Gentle Spirit`. Overnight Pitlochry.
Day 6 we take in the popular Victorian tourist town of Pitlochry before heading south to Dunkeld and Stirling. After lunch, enjoy panoramic views from the ramparts of Stirling Castle and take in the castle's long and turbulent history. Overnight nr Stirling.
Day 7 we enjoy fine views of the famous Forth Rail Bridge and then visit Rosslyn Chapel made famous by Dan Brown's book ‘The Da Vinci Code’. Later we get lost in Craigmillar Castles nooks and crannies and its many mysterious chambers and enjoy the charming medieval architecture of the Royal Mile. End in Edinburgh.
