St Hilda Sea Adventures 7 day cruise
A unique sailing holiday afloat on the sheltered sea lochs of the Cowal Peninsula and the Kyles of Bute - a beautiful, unspoiled coastline, aboard the classic vessel the St Hilda. Get close to nature, learn to sail and navigate one of the smallest "Tall Ships" and go ashore to explore local communities.
Holy Loch to Kyles of Bute
After boarding at Holy Loch, cruise the magnificent Firth of Clyde to the Kyles of Bute, a beuatiful area which is perfect for sailing.  Go ashore on the uninhabited Burnt Islands and watch out for basking sharks off Ardlamont Point.  Set the lobster pots and enjoy your first dinner at anchor soaking up the sunset, and serenity!
Kyles of Bute to Isle of Bute
Enjoy your first breakfast on board while watching the seals swimming around the boat.  Take the tender to see the rare Common Seal colony and watch for otters.  Get close to the shoreline of the Isle of Bute to watch the feral goats and go ashore to see the "Maids of Bute".  Perhaps fish for mackerel, take a shore walk on East Kyle, have some real ale at the Colintraive Arms and see the stars in their full glory
Arran and Loch Riddon
Head out past the Sound of Bute to the open waters and to the Isle of Arran.  Spend a few hours learning how to sail a small "Tall Ship" and have a shot at navigation and steering. Return after an exhilarating and invigorating day to the calm waters of the Kyles of Bute and Loch Riddon, surrounded by mountains.  Swim from the boat, catch plankton to examine under the microscope and take a walk on the forest trail
Loch Fyne
Loch Fyne is the longest sea loch in Scotland and the area is a hotspot for marine wildife, including basking sharks, otters, porpoises, dolphins and even the occasional Minke Whale.  There are many species of birds, including rafts of young puffins in early summer.  The area is also rich in archeaology and we take a shore walk at Minard to visit the Standing Stones.
Loch Striven
We visit Loch Striven the most remote of all the Scottish Sea lochs and anchor at the very head of the loch to soak in the silence and watch for wildlife.  We go ashore to explore, taking the trail to the top of the hilly lochside to enjoy the magnificent views to Arran and beyond, watch for deer and see the sea and golden eagles soaring overhead.  At low tide the coast is excellent for rock pooling and gathering shells.
Loch Goil
We depart the Kyles of Bute after breakfast and head north east along the Firth of Clyde and along the coast of the Cowal Peninsula, passing Holy Loch on the way.  We arrive at historic Carrick Castle and just around the bay to our quiet anchorage beside a babbling stream, a popular place for otters to play.  The bay is perfect for swimming from the boat and for going ashore to take the forest trail.
Loch Goil to Holy Loch
Waking up at anchor in Loch Goil, there is an opportunity to have a last swim, spot of fishing or otter spotting before the final breakfast on board.  A leisurely cruise via Loch Long takes you back to Holy Loch, still keeping an eye out for porpoises and dolphins on the way.  Disembark at Holy Loch Marina at 11am and take onward travel with Best Scottish Tours or independent travel
