This sensational 5 day tour takes you on a colourful journey through Scotland at a time when the golden hues of autumn are at their best. Explore the natural Scottish landscape decorated in stunning shades of gold, bronze and russet red and at the end of each magical day, indulge in some of the most amazing local produce from the autumn harvest. Day 1 is a fabulous introduction to Scotland's westy coast landscape, exploring Scotland’s first National Park and the ‘bonnie banks’ of Loch Lomond. Later we visit the loch-side village of Inveraray with a visit to its famous Castle, home of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, and then tour through beautiful Glencoe steeped in history with dramatic scenery. Day 2 takes us aboard the Jacobite steam train, now famous as the Harry Potter “Hogwarts Express”, which forms part of the West Highland Railway intended to help open up this remote part of the Scottish coast. After a lovely lunch in Mallaig we take the ferry “Over the Sea to Skye”. Overnight nr Skye
Day 3 is a tour of the Isle of Skye, passing through Broadford and on to the main settlement on the Island; Portree, with its colourful harbour front and interesting shops. Heading north we take in Uig, the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock Falls and travel through the rugged Trotternish Peninsula with other options a possibility. This will be a day to remember. Day 4 we view Eilean Donan Castle and then travel through Glen Shiel to the charming village of Fort Augustus on the shores of Loch Ness - keep a look out for Nessie! Later we travel east to the highest distillery and sample the `Gentle Spirit` before moving on to enjoy the afternoon in colourful Highland Perthshire. Overnight Pitlochry
Day 5 we enjoy highland Perthshire and Dunkeld with its ancient riverside Cathedral before we tour south to Stirling Castle; the favoured residence of Scotland’s Kings and Queens, for a full tour to take in the castles' long and turbulent history. When we are ready we head for Edinburgh and the Royal Mile with its charming medieval architecture for the opportunity to do some last minute speciality shopping.
