My first passion is my family as they are my love, hope and life.
I am a Glasgow boy, hailing from Scotland’s largest and most vibrant city. I was born in the town of Govan and when I left school I trained as a motor technician with the prestigious Jaguar Car brand. Over the years I played in the Barrhead Burgh Brass Band and went all over the country for band competition's. Cars have always been a passion for me, and after a successful time at college and winning a few award's I became a qualified member of the motor industry and fully qualified automotive technician. Highlights for me during my career were when I ran the challenging Aftersales Department for Porsche, Ferrari and BMW. I now have a real passion for vintage cars.
I am a proud Scot and just love the country I was born in. Having travelled most of Scotland over the years, I still never tire of our depth of history, breath-taking scenery, and stunning vistas around each corner. Today I very much enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life and discovering Scotland all over again with them. I used to think only Sportsmen had their dream job, but then I got mine with Best Scottish Tours.
I'm an avid whisky lover, and it has always been my dream to do a distillery tour of Scotland. Best Scottish Tours made my dream come true. We did 11 distilleries in ten days, staying in nine different hotels and gust houses. We were eight in a van plus our wonderful driver, George. At most of the distilleries we were given a tour and explanation of their particular approach. And at all of them we got to taste from two to four drams. My wife is not a whisky lover so I brought her drams hone in "driver's bottle," small bottles provided for those who do not drink. (Yes, there are some.) The places we stayed at were all very nice, save on which I did not care for, but it was not awful. The best surprise was the food! It was simply delicious with a special emphasis on local fresh fish. We also go to visit several small towns and a couple of amazing castles. The trip was delicious, tasty and interesting. I will add one thing. A trip like this is not for the weak of heart. My wife and I are 80, and to be honest, found it tiring. Fortunately, our younger van mates and George helped us with out bags so we managed. I cannot recommend this trip more strongly. We had a wonderful time, made good friends and learned tons about Scotland and whisky.Mike, Canada
