Experience the atmosphere of breath-taking Glencoe and quaint fishing villages such as Mallaig, and visit historic Stirling Castle on our way back to Edinburgh. Day 1

Loch Lomond, Inveraray & Oban


Day 1 A fabulous introduction to the Scottish landscape, exploring the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond within Scotland’s first National Park. After exploring the village of Luss, we travel over the ‘Rest and Be Thankful’ mountain pass into Clan Campbell territory. We stop at Inveraray town before making our way to the coastal town of Oban. Overnight Lochaber.

Day 2

Glencoe & Road to the Isles


Day 2 We head north for the Glencoe mountains, the scene for some of Scotland’s feuds, murders and treachery. Moving on, we on the ‘Road to the Isles’ through stunning west coast scenery and visit Glenfinnan and Neptune’s Staircase. Arriving in the seaside village of Mallaig we cross “Over the Sea to Skye” (16.00 Mallaig-Armadale). Overnight nr Skye.

Day 3

Isle of Skye


Day 3 Today is a tour of the Isle of Skye, passing through Broadford and the Cuillin Mountains and on to the Island capital, Portree, to explore and have lunch. Heading north we take in the fabulous scenery and seascapes with Kilt Rock Falls, the Old Man of Storr and the unusual and fascinating landscape of the Quiraing. Overnight north Skye.

Day 4

Isle of Harris


Day 4 Today we travel by ferry from Skye to the Outer Hebrides to explore the dramatic beauty of the Isle of Harris. There are a wide range of landscapes from spectacular beaches, rare machair and rugged mountains. Highlights include the Golden Road, St. Clements Church, stunning Luskentyre beach, and Harris Tweed. Overnight Harris.

Day 5

Isle of Lewis


Day 5 This morning we leave Harris and explore the rich history of Lewis which has been inhabited by man for around 5000 years or more. Touring north, we visit the ancient Calanais Standing Stones, Dun Carloway Broch, and a traditional blackhouse village where we will discover the ancient way of life before heading into Stornoway. Overnight Lewis.

Day 6

Wester Ross


Day 6 This morning allows time to explore the town of Stornoway before we board the ferry and head back to the mainland, past the Summer Isles and venture through Wester Ross. This is a very old landscape which is well known for its mountain scenery and after taking in the village of Ullapool, we visit the ruins of Ardvreck Castle. Overnight Kylesku.

Day 7

Sutherland


Day 7 Explore Scotland’s most remote north west coast with spectacular seascapes and large portions of unspoilt, natural landscapes. Sutherland makes up a large part of the North Coast 500 route and we’ll get off the beaten track at Sango bay and Smoo cave. On our journey you’ll Learn of the tragic story of the Highland Clearances. Overnight nr Thurso.

Day 8

Orkney 1


Day 8 We cross the Pentland Firth to Orkney. This archipelago of 70 islands and skerries has beautiful beaches, heritage, culture, and wonderful wildlife. We cross the Churchill Barriers to visit the Italian Chapel, then on to visit Kirkwall town with St. Magnus Cathedral at its heart. We end the day at the Highland Park Distillery. Overnight Orkney.

Day 9

Orkney 2


Day 9 Today we head out to visit the ancient burial cairn of Maes Howe, the Ring of Brodgar, and the huge Stones of Stenness. Later, we’ll visit the Neolithic settlement of Skara Brae and the Broch of Gurness - one of the most outstanding examples of a prehistoric settlement. If time permits, we’ll walk the beach at the Brough of Birsay. Overnight Orkney.

Day 10

Caithness


Day 10 We head back to the mainland of Scotland and Caithness where we visit Wick Heritage Museum, which has a strong focus on the herring-boom era of Wick's history. Later, we explore the little-known ancient harbour of Whaligoe Haven and then finish the day with an afternoon walk around Dornoch village. Overnight Dornoch

Day 11

Cairngorms National Park


Day 11 Explore the Cairngorms National Park with towering mountain ranges and large tracts of the original Caledonian Pine Forest. Heading south, we take in Carrbridge, Aviemore with the opportunity of an afternoon walk at Rothiemurchus Estate. We end the day at the Victorian tourist town of Pitlochry which sits on the cusp of the highlands and the lowlands. Overnight Pitlochry.

Day 12

Perthshire & Stirling


Day 12 This morning we relax and explore Highland Perthshire taking in Pitlochry town and then Dunkeld on the banks of the river Tay before moving on to the city of Stirling. Stirling Castle is the next stop for a full tour to take in the castle's long and turbulent history. We admire the famous Forth Rail Bridge before making our way back to Edinburgh.
