Where I grew up - I was born and raised in Greenock; an historic industrial town by the Firth of Clyde.

My favourite tour - I just LOVE visting Orkney. This archipelago in the Northern Isles of Scotland is just so unspoilt and wholesome. Orkney is separated from the mainland of Scotland by the Pentland Firth and the ferry crossing here provides fantastic oportunites to view seals, seabirds, dolphins and the occasional killer whale too! My favourite ancient monuments here are the Neolithic settlement of Skara Brae, Maes Howe chambered cairn and the well known Ring of Brodgar.

During the 12 Day Outer Hebrides, Neolithic Orkney & Highlands tour we also explore the dramatic beauty of the Isle of Harris and the Isle of Lewis, where we visit the ancient Calanais Standing Stones, Dun Carloway Broch, and a traditional blackhouse village - trust me, its a fantastic tour!

What I drink amongst friends - Just a diet coke!

When I'm not touring with guests - My wife and I enjoy heading off in our VW camper for a few nights away. Recent expeditions have taken us up the west coast of Scotland and also south through England. I really enjoy photography and its a real passion of mine - I'll frequently take my camera set-up on tour with me as there is always something of interest...wildlife, historic architecture or eye-popping Scottish landscapes!

"I just returned from my third tour with Best Scottish Tours, which consistently provides an exceptional experience with excellent guides to locations one would not find without their knowledge. Every guide knows the history and can tell it well. My friend and I customized this trip to the Isles of Skye, Harris & Lewis, and Orkney and Peter (our guide this trip) made the extra effort so we learned and experienced more. Thank you Peter! Best Scottish Tours includes accommodations in small, charming and comfortable hotels with excellent food; and with top quality guides and safe transportation, this company provides a remarkable vacation value. My very highest recommendation and I look forward to my next tour with Best Scottish Tours." G Kennerly Virginia Beach, Virginia
"We just returned home from a 7 day tour of the Outer Hebrides and Orkney with a brief stop over in Skye, which we had seen on our first Best Scottish Tour in 2016. Skye is always worth seeing again and again. Best Scottish Tours is aptly named. It is the best! Our tour guide for this tour was Peter. Who was fantastic! He was knowledgeable and a very good driver on all the narrow one lane Scottish roads! He was fun and knew so much about all the places we visited. I felt right at home in these remote and windy places. A tour of the Harris Tweed Mill is certainly worth doing if you are a wearer of fine woollens. And then Orkney! I loved Orkney so much I felt like I belonged there with a flock of sheep and my dogs."
