Tom

Me in 3 words – Attentive | Thoughtful | Quizzical
My favourite place in Scotland – East Neuk of Fife. It is incredibly picturesque, with lovely fishing villages and a spectacular coastline, it is definitley one of Scotland's hidden gems!
My Scottish hero – Jimmy Johnstone. He was a Scottish footballer who played as an outside right. Known as "Jinky" for his elusive dribbling style, Johnstone played for Celtic for 13 years, and won 23 caps for Scotland.

What is your passion? Travelling, reading, cycling and trying to master golf, which is likely to take a very long time as I've been playing since childhood and don't feel I've improved a great deal!

Tell us a bit about you - I was born and brought up in Johnstone, a quaint market town in Renfrewshire. I then spent the vast bulk of my working life as a Meteorologist in the UK Meteorological Office, with 22 years serving in the military wing (Mobile Met Unit) which is a reserve unit of the Royal Air Force. During that time I travelled extensively across the world in support of UK forces, eventually retiring from RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus.

Do you have a favourite tour? Any one that involves visiting Skye and, of course, the East Neuk of Fife

What's your favourite drink amongst friends? Single malt whisky, especially Speyside and Glenfarclas in particular

When you’re not on tour? I mostly lose a lot of golf balls when not on tour, I like to spread the love and although a member of a local club, I often play other courses throughout Scotland and further afield.

What do you love about Scotland and Best Scottish Tours? The thing I love most about Scotland are the people.  The thing I love most about Best Scottish Tours is being able to share the beauty, history and culture of the country with others. Also to build friendships with guests and our hospitality partners who enable us to provide our guests with a big welcome and wonderful experience.
