Day 1 begins with a leisurely visit to Rosslyn Chapel made famous by Dan Brown's book ‘The Da Vinci Code’. Later we head into the capital to visit the Malt Whisky Experience and enjoy a walk down the Royal Mile with its medieval architecture. Overnight Glasgow.
Day 2 allows for a tour of Auchentoshan distillery before exploring the mountains, glens, lochs and rivers of Scotland’s first National Park, the ‘bonnie banks’ of Loch Lomond and the lochside village of Inveraray and its famous castle which is home to the Duke and Duchess of Argyll. Overnight Kintyre
Day 3 we travel via ferry to Islay with over seven distilleries to choose from. With their heavy peat-smoked flavour, the Islay malts really are in a class of their own and our day visit will allow time for two distilleries and a lunch stop or just sight-seeing if you desire. Overnight Kintyre
Day 4 explores the west coast with a wonderful tour through Kilmartin Glen and onwards to visit to Oban with a distillery tour of one of the oldest whisky distilleries in Scotland. Later we view the beautiful landscape of Glencoe. Overnight Glencoe
Day 5 takes us west on the spectacular “Road to the Isles” providing wonderful views across the Sound of Arisaig to the Small Isles of Eigg and Rhum. Our journey takes us past Neptune’s Staircase on our way to take the ferry “Over the Sea to Skye”. Overnight nr Skye
Day 6 is a tour of the Isle of Skye, passing through Broadford and on to the main settlement on the Island; Portree. Heading north we take in the wonderful seascapes and visit Talisker Distillery with other options a possibility. Overnight nr Skye
Day 7 we view Eilean Donan and head for Speyside via beautiful Achnasheen and Strathpeffer. We visit the only remaining single malt Scotch whisky distillery on the Black Isle, Glen Ord. We tour through Inverness and end the day in the country’s best-known whisky region, Speyside. Overnight Speyside
Day 8 we enjoy Scotland’s famous Malt Whisky Trail - the only trail of its kind in the world, with a trip to the Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown, the Balvenie Distillery in Rothes and then to Keith to take a tour of the oldest operating distillery in the Highlands, Strathisla. Overnight Speyside
Day 9 we travel south along the main whisky smuggling route from the highlands to the Lowlands through the Cairngorms National Park. Here we will visit the highest distillery in Scotland at 1,073 feet, Dalwhinnie, before heading further south to the Victorian town of Pitlochry. Overnight Pitlochry
Day 10 begins with an enjoyable walk around the highland village of Dunkeld and then Tullibardine distillery before we move on to explore Stirling Castle with a full tour to take in the castle's long and turbulent history. We now head for the famous Forth Rail Bridge and on to Edinburgh.
