This sensational 5 day tour takes you on a colourful journey through Scotland at a time when the golden hues of autumn are at their best. Explore the natural Scottish landscape decorated in stunning shades of gold, bronze and russet red and at the end of each magical day, indulge in some of the most amazing local produce from the autumn harvest. Highlights include exploring both of our National Parks, Glencoe, Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, Inveraray village, highland Perthshire, Eilean Donan Castle and the important historic centres of Stirling and Edinburgh.
Day 1 is a fabulous introduction to the Scottish landscape, exploring the mountains, glens and lochs of Scotland’s first National Park and the beautiful lochside village of Inveraray with its famous castle. The journey north takes us through the stunning scenery of Glencoe. Overnight Glencoe
Day 2 takes us aboard the Jacobite steam train, now famous as the Harry Potter “Hogwarts Express”, which forms part of the West Highland Railway intended to help open up this remote part of the Scottish coast. After a lovely lunch in Mallaig we take the ferry “Over the Sea to Skye”. Overnight nr Skye
Day 3 is a tour of the Isle of Skye, passing through Broadford and on to the main settlement on the Island; Portree. Heading north we take in changing landscape of the Trotternish peninsula with the Old Man of Storr, Kilt Rock Falls and the spectacularly bizarre scenery of the Quiraing. Overnight nr Skye
Day 4 we travel through Glen Shiel to the charming village of Fort Augustus on the shores of Loch Ness - keep a look out for Nessie! Later we travel east to the highest distillery and sample the `Gentle Spirit` before moving on to enjoy the afternoon in colourful Highland Perthshire. Overnight Pitlochry.
Day 5 we tour south via Dunkeld with its ancient riverside Cathedral to Stirling Castle; the favoured residence of Scotland’s Kings and Queens, and take in the castles' long and turbulent history. After lunch, we head for Edinburgh and the charming medieval architecture of the Royal Mile. End in Edinburgh.
