Departing: Edinburgh
Depart Edinburgh and tour south for the charming lowland town of Moffat nestled in the heart of Southern Scotland. A quick look around the town to take in the scenic beauty and we set off for the 18th-century market town of Castle Douglas. Being Galloway’s ‘Food Town’, this is a great place to stop for lunch before we head for Parton Church as per your request. Explore further along the Solway Firth at Rockville that boasts one of Scotland’s most beautiful coastlines fringed with wildflowers. Overnight Dumfries & Galloway.
After breakfast, admire the remarkably complete abbey church at Sweetheart Abbey, still doing its best to inspire and overawe 700 years on. Caerlaverock Castle is our next visit to explore this remarkable moated triangular castle. We stop for lunch in the historic town of Dumfries, affectionately nicknamed the “Queen of the South”, before taking the spectacular Mennock Path which winds its way up to Scotland’s highest village, Wanlockhead. We now return to Edinburgh. Tour ends in Edinburgh.
