7 Day Best of Scotland with Walking

This 7 day journey is an incredible introduction to Scotland and includes walking in some of the most iconic places within our varies landscape. The walks are unguided but are on waymarked routes and require a good level of fitness. We take time out from travelling by vehicle to enjoy the fabulous scenery of our National Parks, enchanting Glencoe and the Isle of Skye, Inveraray, Pitlochry and Fort Augustus, historic Culloden Battlefield and Eilean Donan Castle and the vibrant centres of Inverness, Stirling and Edinburgh.

Day 1

Loch Lomond & Glencoe


Day 1 is a fabulous introduction to the Scottish landscape, exploring the mountains and glens of Scotland’s first National Park and the picturesque village of Luss. Heading west, we visit the beautiful loch-side village of Inveraray to enjoy a 2hour return hike to Dun na Cuaiche hill with amazing views over Loch Fyne and the castle. Traveling north takes us through the stunning scenery of Glencoe. Overnight Glencoe

Day 2

Road to the Isles


Day 2 takes us west on the spectacular “Road to the Isles” providing wonderful views across the Sound of Arisaig to the Small Isles of Eigg and Rhum. Our journey takes us past Neptune’s Staircase on our way to enjoy an excellent 1hour short walk at the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct with superb views over Loch Shiel. Later, we take the ferry “Over the Sea to Skye”. Overnight nr Skye

Day 3

Isle of Skye


Day 3 is a tour of the Isle of Skye, passing through Broadford and the Cuillin Mountains to the main settlement on the Island, Portree, with colourful houses and traditional harbour. Later, we head north to admire the scenery and views at the Old Man of Storr and Kilt Rock Falls. Enjoy approx. 1.5hours hiking the most famous walk on the Isle of Skye. Overnight nr Skye

Day 4

Eilean Donan Castle & Loch Ness


Day 4 begins with a visit to Eilean Donan Castle before travelling through beautiful Glenshiel to the village of Fort Augustus on the shores of Loch Ness where we may take a cruise on this lovely loch - keep your eyes peeled for the legend of Nessie. Later, we enjoy a 1hour hike to the Falls of Foyers on Loch Ness before heading north for the “Capital of the Highlands”. Overnight nr Inverness

Day 5

Culloden & Cairngorms


Day 5 explores Culloden Battlefield which will provide a lasting image of heroic Bonnie Prince Charlie and his Jacobite Army. Later, we travel through the Cairngorms National Park with large tracts of Caledonian Pine Forest stopping at Carrbridge to view the old horse-pack bridge before we enjoy a stunning 2hour afternoon walk around Loch an Eilein with its 13th century island castle. Overnight Pitlochry.

Day 6

Dunkeld & Stirling


Day 6 allows time to enjoy the highland town of Pitlochry before we journey south for a morning walk at the Hermitage before visiting the town of Dunkeld to view its riverside cathedral. Later we explore Stirling Castle, this royal court will reveal the castle's long and turbulent history with iconic figures such as Mary Queen of Scots, William Wallace and Robert the Bruce. Day 7

Edinburgh


Day 7 we head for our capital city to visit Edinburgh Castle and enjoy a walk down the Royal Mile with its charming medieval architecture and the opportunity to do some speciality shopping. After lunch, experience a hill walk in the heart of the city. Take a 2hour hike up to Arthur's Seat's rocky summit which towers over Edinburgh with fabulous views in all directions.
